How we turned a vision of a backyard oasis into reality.

The owner had a vision for their backyard oasis. We were more than happy to oblige.

Liquid Assets Pools is always touting its ability to build a true backyard oasis. But it’s rare when a potential customer calls us and asks us to do exactly that – create and build a backyard oasis.

That’s the request we received from one of our recent customers who spent about six-to-seven years talking about it amongst themselves. When the couple’s children reached grade school age, they decided to plunge in and they knew a gunite concrete constructed pool was the way to go.

“My wife had always wanted a pool,” said our customer who consulted with several local pool building companies. “She loved the idea of hearing water in our backyard so we knew that fountains had to be part of the equation.”

And they were – in a grand way.

Their new outdoor oasis has many great features but a real showstopper, particularly at night, are the two pillars topped off with fire bowls that act as fountains and also shoot flames into the nighttime air.

One of the key features of the pool is this dramatic fire bowl which lights up the night sky and also acts as a fountain.

“It’s beautiful at night and gives the lighting of the pool a dramatic look,” said the owner. “But that’s just one of the features we love.”

Equally high on that list is the round fire pit that is great for gathering round on cool nights in the fall.

Stonework is key to the overall design of the pool and plays a big part in the lower level fire pit which extends the pool season on both ends of the year.

“We had an all grass backyard that overlooked a nice valley below,” said the homeowner. “Our yard had a natural slope to it and Liquid Assets was able to make that slope work to our advantage. It’s so nice to sit by the pit and enjoy the view – whether that’s our kids playing in the pool or looking out on the valley.”

Liquid Assets also oversaw the installation of a hut tub, featuring a retractable cover that can be easily pulled back to sit on a shelf without interfering with the view. Special attention was also paid to the stonework, making sure it blended in with the overall stone masonry separating the fire pit level with the pool.

The hot tub features special shelves which hold the cover without obscuring the view of the valley. Stone work around the tub completes the look.

Liquid Assets created a 3-D rendering of the outdoor area to help the owner visualize what was in store for them.

The pool slide is a kid favorite and looks great, too!

“Seeing it all in 3-D really helped. They had views of what the pool area would like while looking out of our kitchen window as well as dramatic overhead views where you could see the whole yard with everything laid out before work ever began. Once we saw how all the elements worked together we couldn’t wait to get started,” said the owner.

Part of the overall plan also included a covered kitchen area with a stove, refrigerator and bar-b-que pit along with a flat-screen TV that can be viewed from the pool. There are also space heaters for when there’s a chill in the night air.

Key kitchen items are all underneath an enclosed overhang which was added to the house and looks like it was there all along.

“Last year, we didn’t shut the pool down until October 31st. Even after that, we still got use out of it sitting around the fire pit at night. A lot of times, I like to enjoy my morning coffee sitting out by the pit, looking over the valley. It’s a great way to start my day,” added the owner.

The pool overlooks the valley below, making it a great place to sit outside for a morning coffee or to enjoy the view as the sun is setting.

Now in our 14th year, Liquid Assets Pools specializes in designing and constructing gunite concrete pools for its customers in central and eastern Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks and southern Illinois.
